Warrior Class Adds CERT Members in Villa Park


At least two new CERT volunteers were added to the Villa Park CERT Team upon graduation at the Du Page County Fairgrounds in Wheaton, Illinois. The Warrior class completed their live graduation drill on Thursday – April 28, 2016. Included in the class are Villa Park Citizen Fire Academy graduates – Robert Fliege and Alicia Bassett who completed their 7 week CERT training classes.

The scenario for the Warrior CERT graduation exercise was a tornado at the fairgrounds that included a downed private aircraft. The fairgrounds covers a large area that required more than two hours to locate, evaluate and transport approximately 35 victims. The victims included current Villa Park CERT members who arrived early to have various injuries applied in the form of moulage style makeup. The moulage techniques is the art of applying mock injuries for the purpose of training Emergency Response Teams and other medical and military personnel.

The volunteers also included those who were observers, traffic control and safety monitors. The Villa Park CERT volunteers and victims included – Marcia Basciano, Melenie Becker, Tim Kleinow, Hosanna Korynecky, Cynthia Lopez-Mueller and Al Stasch.
